CASTROSUA HAS DELIVERED 168 BUSES TO ABU DHABI

The Abu Dhabi Department of Transportation (DoT), through Famco Al Futtaim Auto & Machinery Co (FAMCO), has received the total order of 168 intercity buses build with Castrosua model Magnus.E on Volvo chassis, model B11R Euro VI. FAMCO is a company branch of the Al-Futtaim Group composed of a conglomerate of some 250 companies and more than 50.000 employees.

Bus deliveries started at the end of 2019 and most of the vehicles are already in service along the Abu Dhabi urban and peri-urban areas as well as in the city of Al Ain. Transport service is being managed by the bus operators City Transport and Hafilat Industry LLC.

The buses are 13 meters long, high floor and class III. Among its equipment stands out an air conditioning unit with high refrigeration capacity, 3 air purifiers to improve the quality of the air inside the vehicle, an automatic fire extinguishing equipment, three-line signs and a lifting platform to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility. They also equip double windows, two skylights, two doors with air curtains, 47 seats with two-point belts and a wheelchair space.

The driver’s seat is completely ergonomic, with lumbar adjustment, left armrest, belt, and equipped with an integrated microphone, as well as a warning to the driver if the belt is not fastened. It is equipped with a reversing and frontal vision camera connected to a monitor in the driver’s seat, USB in the passenger area, exterior lighting panels besides doors and 3 monitors distributed throughout the interior of the vehicle with information for users.

The driver’s door has a semi-vandal protection screen and rear-view mirrors electrically adjustable and heated. The trunks are pneumatic opening and have low beams with LED technology. In addition, it incorporates systems of passenger-counting and video surveillance. This order for the United Arab Emirates is the largest international order Castrosua has ever faced. That is the result of the line of work begun years ago in order to consolidate its strategic line of internationalization. Castrosua is very proud of being able to meet the demands that this distant market requires, as well as of the perfect coordination with Volvo throughout the process. Castrosua was able to win a tender in the United Arab Emirates with a totally personalized design.
