KARSAN WINS PUBLIC TRANSPORT TENDER IN ITALY
Karsan, one of the leading bus manufacturers in Europe, has played a pioneering role in the electrification of public transport in Italy and won the tender of the Italian public procurement agency, Consip, at the end of 2022.
Currently, Karsan is providing a service with 34 electric vehicles in many Italian cities, from the north to the south of the country, such as Verona, Legnago, Sengrio, Alghero, Olbia, Catania and Catanzaro. The company aims to expand the electric public transport network with the new orders from this tender, supplying new units of the e-JEST and e-ATAK, six- and eight-metre electric vehicles, over the next 18 months, as agreed with Consip.

According to Okan Baş, CEO of Karsan, Italy is one of Karsan’s main markets, and with the current orders and the new ones coming from this new agreement, the company’s goal is to increase Karsan’s electric fleet in Italy to more than 200 units
Okan Baş added: «Karsan is one of the preferred brands for the electric transformation in public transport in Europe. Thanks to this new agreement, we will maintain our strong growth in Italy, one of our target markets».
According to Okan Baş, e-JEST has been the best-seller in Europe for the last 3 years, while e-ATAK has held the leading position in this segment for 2 years, and they also aim to be the leaders by 2023.
